These photographs were taken on an early Sunday stroll through the city from the east end. Interesting Glasgow murals and buildings and murals on Strathclyde University buildings reflect a nautical history of the Graham Hills buildings.
Iridescent clouds otherwise known as nacreous clouds. In the wake of a strong and slow depression off the northwest Scottish coast (“storm Henry”), we were treated to this stunning display. The colours come from sunlight below horizon striking high-up water and ice which splits the sunlight into its constituent rainbow of colours. A pleasure to witness and photograph nacreous clouds.
It’s not a frequent habit of me to shoot frames low in detail, shape and colour. Yet these shots can carry more weight and thoughtful curiosity. I hope you enjoy these Clackmannanshire abstracts.
Place a bottomless white ice-cream tub on a sheet of paper, arrange flashlights around tub then invite bugs in for a quick beauty photo shoot.
These were shot on an iPhone 4 in 2010 and are a good demonstration of how the iPhone camera (and others) have transformed photography. Its only weakness was wild swings in colour temperature from shot to shot, for which I corrected in this collection. These were taken around the rolling fields in Clackmannanshire at the foot of the Ochil Hills.
