Photography…mostly.

Harris and Lewis shots

In November I visited Harris and Lewis on a photography tour. They are part of the Outer Hebrides lying on the north west coast of Scotland. I had planned to travel the group of islands from Vatersay then through the Uists onto Harris and Lewis. However it became clear during planning how large these islands are. In the past I considered backpacking or cycling, but as summer melted into autumn then blown away by winter so I choose motorised transport.

Weather changed my plans to camp (keeping costs down) when a deluge exposed leaks in canvas, groundsheet and then my resilience. Instead I used two fantastic hostels as bases for exploration. I will write about these places, the landscape, light, locals and the images I created next year. This experience changed photography in ways I’m not yet sure I understand yet. Perhaps to a deeper degree as a person. Here is a choice of phone grab shots.

Sheep on Harris and Lewis are as multicoloured as the rainbows that arch over the islands.
