    On the morning of 13th June 2012 the Olympic torch relay made its was through Alloa. The organisation of the event was impressive with many Brands buying Olympic sponsorship. Despite the froth and hoopla it was a chance to see that beautiful golden torch. (more…)

    Winters grip

    A very sharp frost in winter 2008 gripped Stirling. Lots of crystalline ice grew over successive days of sub-zero temperatures.These were created on Abbey Craig upon which the Wallace Monument towers.

  • Ochils on fire

    Ochils on fire

    On 4th June 2012 there were thousands of beacons lit to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. On the Ochils highest hill, Dumyat, its beacon was lit later than the others so a complete Ochil Panorama of all beacons alight was not possible. However beacons above Alva, Tillicoultry and Dollar were ablaze and visible.

  • Harris and Lewis shots

    Harris and Lewis shots

    In November I visited Harris and Lewis on a photography tour. They are part of the Outer Hebrides lying on the north west coast of Scotland. I had planned to travel the group of islands from Vatersay then through the Uists onto Harris and Lewis. However it became clear during planning how large these islands are. In the past I considered backpacking or cycling, but as summer melted into autumn then blown away by winter so I choose motorised transport.
